YOGA FEEDBACK - the 'what yoga has done for me' page

Thought I'd put up a page for various yoga feedback comments from students.
Always helps to motivate the rest of us, huh?

"Do I have a yoga success story for you!! I ran the Two Oceans this weekend & applied some breathing techniques when the going got tough. Twas up the last climb, Constantia Nek, that the wheels started falling off, when I told myself, "N..., pull yourself together and breathe in positive energy, chi, prana and breathe out all the negativity & toxins". Well, I continued like that for the last 12kms & it really helped a lot! So, ta a lot!"

"Just to let you know I used my yoga breathing during an eye op. They were getting to the point to through in the towel as I was just to tense and kept shaking.... so I started my breathing and relaxed enough for them to proceed... I think I they thought I was very strange making funny noises in my throat but it worked! Thanx"

"Thanks, the effects of yoga are absolutely mind blowing, and what's more I am really beginning to feel the benefits. Long live yoga!"

"I so enjoyed your classes and am proud to say I have not yet found any classes here (New York) as enjoyable!! will definitely come join in a class or two when next I visit my favourite city!"

"Since very early in my life I've had difficulty in doing simple, yet to me extremely painful, stretches. Thanks to spondylosis and Rheumatoid arthritis I felt I would never flop over like a rag doll and hang there in complete comfort! Add to this heel spurs and plantar fasciitis, broken toe bones, hyperextended ligaments in knees and elbows and fractured ribs all courtsey of my favorite art 'Tae Kwon Do'. This did not stop me from competing and teaching it, and I used Reiki to help counteract the effects. But, as I matured, the body started to let me know that it did not like what I was doing to it at all.

Which brings me to how Yoga has benefited me ...

When I first stated I looked around and thought Oh "@$*!$@#" I've enrolled in "Gumby Bear" hell. Everyone, but me, or so I thought, could bend over forward and kiss their knees! I struggled and groaned through the first lesson and thought, 'ain't going back', but somehow I did go back again and again.

My orthopedic surgeon is surprised at the spaces that are starting to show between my vertebrae in my spinal column. And I am surprised every time I now bend forward and seem as if I can kiss my knees. I have more energy, and find there are odd bad days as opposed to having odd good days in a month. Getting up in the mornings is now a pleasure as the excruciating pain grows less and less. Even getting up out of a chair was agony for me; you will note I said 'was'.

Then there's the breathing, which takes me to a level of peace! I am, after all, a very exuberant, fireball type of person and this peace does not change my character only enhances it! Today after yoga class, I suddenly found my self in a place of absolute deliciousness. Everything felt perfect and right for me, my body, my mind, my soul and my surroundings! If by doing yoga I achieve this well-being constantly in my present life and it raises me to a deeper awareness of what I'm all about, then I will keep doing it!

After all, what do I lose but my inflexibility, pain, stress and as Hilton so sweetly puts it "Added bits of biscuit"!"
