Description: In October 2002, The Tsebo Group sold its 49% share in Air Chefs to South African Airways (SAA). Since then Air Chefs is a wholly owned subsidiary of SAA. Air Chefs has been in operation since November 1986 and currently provides for the in-flight catering requirements for more than 30 airlines from units in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, George, Port Elizabeth, East London & Bloemfontein. Approximately 180 000 meals are produced per week by over 1 300 people. Air Chefs' airside location allows for a superior level of service with some aircraft parking bays no more than two minutes from the business unit. This allows for a faster reaction time to last minute crew requests, as well as meal requests for 'go show' passengers checking in at the last minute.
