Moodaley not Considered for NMBCB President Position

Sport News in PEwww.MyPE.co.za: The Nelson Mandela Bay Cricket Board will be convening their AGM on Thursday 29 July 2010 at 18h00 at Axxess DSL St George's.

Contained within the Agenda is the election of office bearers for the next 2 year period. Mr Jerry Mbenge who has been the NMBCB President for a number of years is not seeking re-election and as such new nominations have been made by stakeholder clubs, with the 2 nominees being Messrs Rajan Moodaley and Elroy Swart.

In performing its oversight responsibility the EPACB Manco, has subsequent to the nominations being finalized, scrutinized these nominations.  It  has come to Manco's attention that Mr Moodaley, by virtue of a disciplinary enquiry conducted in April 2002, is disqualified from holding any office in cricket administration until such time as he has applied to EPACB for reinstatement, who in consultation with CSA will consider his application and respond accordingly.

With no application for re-instatement having been received EPACB has been obliged to inform the Nelson Mandela Bay Cricket Board, it's member clubs and Mr Moodaley of his disqualified status.

"This is an unfortunate set of circumstances but our members have elected us to govern the game of cricket and as such we have an obligation to fulfill our legal and fiduciary responsibilities at all times and in the best interests of cricket in our province" said Donovan May President EPACB.
