PE's Biggest Heart of Love

Education News from PEwww.MyPE.co.za: Students from the Twenty 20 Destiny society at NMMU is extending an invite to loved ones and valentines to join them on Valentine's Day at Happy Valley where they aim to build the biggest heart of love in PE.

This heart will be built with cans of food for children or adults and distributed to various children's and old age homes after the event.

Families, students, and all those who are in love are invited to wear something red and bring a can, place it in a huge demarcated "heart" on the beach at the Humewood entrance at Happy Valley.

Co-organiser, second-year student Jon-Paul Raper said the Christian society hoped to collect at least 1000 cans of food as a token of love on Valentines Day.

The heart building event starts at 11am and runs till 2pm under the bridge at Humewood Beach. There will be shelter in case of bad weather and ample parking and security behind John Dory.

Twenty 20 Destiny is a Christian society on campus with a vision to reach out to young adults within the city who are experiencing "crowd loneliness".

"Students come to NMMU and Port Elizabeth from as far away as China to further their studies but may find themselves alone and lacking a social support structure that is so important to this new chapter in their lives," said Twenty20 Destiny chairman Lance Cairns.

"What better way to show that we care than by reaching out to others on Valentine's Day," he said.

Students will also be invited to play volleyball and meet fellow students at this fun-filled day at Happy Valley.

For more information call either Lance Cairns 0827770894 or Jon-Paul Raper 0724499508.
