Bay Traffic College Second Best

Local Government and Municipality in PEwww.MyPE.co.za: The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality's Traffic Training College was recently voted the second best Traffic Training Centre in South Africa. The annual awards, run under the auspices of the Road Traffic Management Cooperation, are intended to recognize excellence and innovative contribution in the training of Traffic Personnel.

Since opening its doors in 1996, the College has issued 2834 Diplomas and Certificates to Traffic Personnel from around the country. The professionalism and excellence exhibited by the College has led to more and more Municipalities sending their personnel to the College. To meet the current and anticipated upsurge in demand for its services, the College is currently undergoing a R13, 5 million expansion programme and has increased its staff complement to twelve.

The Traffic College has, over the years, notched up a number of outstanding achievements, these include, Being the first College to implement its own Quality Management system, receiving a bronze medal for its contribution to Incident Management Systems, awarded full accreditation by LGSeta, registered by the SAPS as a firearms training provider and being the only Traffic College whose learners receive credits and SASSeta learner achievement certificates for firearms.

The Chairperson for the Standing Committee on Safety & Security, Councillor Helen Sauls-August congratulated the Traffic College on behalf of Council and the people of Nelson Mandela Bay. 'The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality is proud to be recognized for its outstanding and innovative work in the training of traffic personnel. This award demonstrates the efficiency and effectiveness of our institution in the promotion of excellence and quality service in the Traffic profession', she said. 'The Traffic College's reputation as a leader in training and development of traffic personnel is commended but this award should serve as a motivation so that next year we attain to spot because we have the capacity and the knowledge to achieve this objective'. 'Once again I would like to congradulate the Traffic Department for winning the award', she concluded.
