Soccer Balls on the North End Lake

Editorial Commentwww.MyPE.co.za: We have one year to go to the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup. Port Elizabeth's stadium will be open to the public on 7 June 2009, allowing ratepayers to inspect what they have partially paid for. We await with bated breath the final accounting for the Stadium costs and hope that the bill will be within budget.

The advertising in and around the stadium is strictly controlled by FIFA and MyPE was wondering if the FIFA rules and regulations extend to the North End Lake. If not, then the image below presents an ideal opportunity for some innovative marketing in the lead up to, during and after the World Cup:

Whisper Boats Floating Soccer Balls

The boats in the image above are built by the Whisper Boat Building Academy in Cape Town and are eco-friendly electricity powered.

The Whisper Boat Building Academy (WBBA) is an organisation aimed at uplifting and inspiring, deaf students, by providing them with skills in the Boat Building Industry. These students are drawn from the Noluthando School for the Deaf in Khayelitsha. The WBBA has been financed by gifts from Dutch, Belgian and South African organisations and also funded by the sale of boats built by students.

WBBA say that the Whisper Floating Soccer Balls are a perfect branding solution with lots of option available, including DVD monitors, wine coolers, beer table, a sushi bar and Mp3 players. Up to 8 people can be accommodated in the boat driven by an electrical motor and charged by a shore based solar station.
