Livingstone must be the worst hospital in the country and to think that it was one of the best in PE in the seventies. This is another failing of the western world's beloved ANC.

Tjhoo where do I begin..my mother inlaw has been admitted at this hosp as she had a broken hip. Went to theatre for an O.P shes not able to move by herself in bed. Now she has developed bedsores whilst under the care of the hosp....how is that possible! This only spells neglect and mind u shes an elderly person.....this is so shameful cause now they have to also treat these sores on top of the O.P of which this could have been prevented if yhe staff were dedicated enough to perform their duties....don't know what will become of this but guess have to wait and see....so disappointed!

My old and sick brother was admitted to this filthy stinking hospital this week. When his son went to visit him the staff did not know where he was. They had to walk from ward to ward to find him. When he was located, his drip was lying on the floor and no stand in sight. All his belongings were stolen. No tests were done yet. I tried to contact the ward 2A to find out how he was. I had to try 4 times,as the phone was hung up every time.(I am in Cape Town) The switchboard tried to put me through, but the nurses in the ward just picked up and put down again.
Is anybody even reading the comments on this site.
I am disgusted.

Hello everyone who is complainning about the Livingston. I am an overseas nurse born in South Africa) and want all of you to come together and roll up your sleeves and help the staff of the Livingston. For all the staff there we are proud you stay and work there in our country.

Disgusted with the staff in the emergency unit. The nurses were extremely rude, unhelpfull. We were traumatised and they did not care one bit.The first 'specialist' rudely sent us around the whole day for useless tests. The last docter did not even speak to us but over us to students about how we could have gone home the morning. When I asked a question the 'student doctor' had the audacity to roll her eyes at me.The nurses, doctor and student doctor all spoke to me like I was beneath them and now I get a bill from the hospital?! They expect me to pay for this?!

i am appualed by the services of your staff at the livingstone hospital.i had no option but to take my dad there last night and the services is JUST PETHETIC TO SAY THE LEAST. YOU HAVE A BUNCH OF MONKEYS WORKING THAT DOESNT DESERVE TO EVEN HAVE A JOB , COMPARING THEM TO MONKEYS IS ACTULLY A COMPLIMANT. ITS SAD BECAUSE ITS NOT ALL THE STAFF BUT BECAUSE MOST OF THEM ARE IDIOTS EVERYBODY GETS PUT IN THE SAME GROUP.I WONDER WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF IT WAS ONE THERE FAMILY MEMBERS.THESE PEOPLE (CASUALITY) ARE USELESS. I AM GLAD I WORK FOR THE MEDIA AND I WILL BE PUTTING A STORY IN ABOUT THIS PATHIC SERVES IN THE HERALD WEEKEND POST AND SUNDAY TIMES. IF THERE NO IMPROVEMNET THEN I WILL BE CONVINCED THAT THIS COUNTRY IS TAKEN BY THE DOGS ALREADY. AND IM VERY DISSAPOINTED TO BE SOUTH AFRICAN

SOME NURSING STAFF AND DOCTORS DEDICATED, BUT HOW IS IT POSSIBLE TO HAVE INDIVIDUALS EMPLOYED JUST FOR THE SAKE OF A "JOB". WHAT LIVINGSTONE NEED IS ONE UNDERCOVER POLITICIAN TO RISK HIS LIFE, BUT SURELY THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN AS OUR HARD EARNED TAX MONEY ENSURES THEM QUICK "FLIGHTS" TO TOP MEDICAL CENTRES, AS THIS QUALITY OF SERVICE DOES NOT FALL WITHIN THEIR IMAGE NOR LIFESTYLE

I AM VERY DISGUSTED IN THE WAY MY STEPFATHER WAS TREATED IN WARD 4B. SOME NURSING STAFF IS VERY GOOD, BUT MANY IS VERY RUDE TO THE PATIENTS. THEY DON'T WEAR NAME TAGS, SO A PERSON NEVER KNOW WHO TO REPORT. A MALE REGISTERED NURSE CAME ON DUTY TAKEN OVER THE NIGHT REPORT WITH AN PAIR OF SANDALS AND A WHITE T SHIRT. I WENT TO HIM AND BEG HIM THAT MY STEPFATHER NEED SOME HELP I BEGGED HIM TO PUT PAULS TUBING ON HIM UNTIL HE COULD GO TO THE TOILET HIMSELF. HE HAD A GALBLADDER OPERATION AN HAD A DRIP ON, BUT HE DID NOTHING FOR THE POOR MAN. ON THE MONDAY HE PASSED AWAY. HIS DATE OF DEATH WAS AFTER 11 IN THE MORNING. MY SISTER PHONE TO HER FATHERS CELL PHONE AFTER 12 NOON, AND WAS THEN TOLD HE BECAME VERY SICK.WHEN THEY CAME THERE THEY ONLY GOT THE NEWS. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE COMPASSION. THIS WAS NOT THE 1ST TIME IT HAPPENED TO OUR FAMILY. MY MOTHER DIED 3 YEARS AGO IN THE SAME HOSPITAL UNDER THE SAME CIRCUMSTANCES.SIES GA

I am embarrassed to tell people that my mom was admitted at Livingstone Hospital. My moms arms are purple the way they did not care how the drips were fitted. This place should close down as it will kill millions of people. I took pictures of my moms arms and I can assure you that I am taking this to the highest authority.Livingstone service delivery is a disgrace. I brought her to Johannesburg and guess what she has been diagnosed and treated. If a hospital does not even have their own toilet roll. With toilets that is dirty. Where is the so called Management of this hospital

To whoever it may concern. We arrived at the hospital 00:30 my mother sugar was high. The lady at front was very helpful she made an emergency file while they were looking for the file.I must say the nurses are not helpfull they busy chatting with each other to me that not people skills. Its past 3 we still waiting anything can happen to my mother. To top it all of there was a guy who shit inside and the nurse made him clean it the smell still there. To me the nurses don't care if the patient lives or not.I must say the service in casualty not up to standards.I'm very disgusted by this nurses was suppose to have compassion but I'm sorry to say what I experienced they don't.

I was at the hospital last night & was totally disgusted. my friend is in ward 4B when I got there last night she was in a state. her drip wasn’t running. her catheter was out & just stuck between the bed & the mattress. she was laying there wet. This is the 3rd time she’s in hospital & the doctors/nurses refuse to tell her brother anything.

I was utterly disgusted by what I read in the Herald yesterday. It was about that poor boy who broke his leg and the terrible treatment he had at Livingstone. I am so appauled and thankfull I have medical aid. I wouldn't wish a hospital stay in Livingstone on my worst enemy. It is just so revolting. Someone should really do something about it. And i mean this is the hospital for the World Cup!!
